The Challenge
UNICEF aimed to establish global education standards and raise awareness of available resources. They sought to create a hub that administrators and practitioners at all levels could access to find essential materials. The FLN Hub needed to offer a streamlined journey, providing learning resources and practical tools across various focus areas to support effective implementation.
Our Solution
We joined forces with Delivery Associates to build a learning platform to enable users to implement and scale up foundational literacy and numeracy interventions in an open, user-friendly, social manner.
The overall program first enabled five accelerator countries to assess their current education delivery capacity (including readiness to re-open schools) and receive relevant learning support and materials to strengthen the most urgent capabilities, before it was expanded to include more countries. The public website also created awareness of public good learning materials and distributed them in a user-friendly manner.
Lastly, Delivery Associates created a senior stakeholder dashboard that enabled key stakeholders to observe countries’ capacities. This allowed stakeholders to see how country capacity was improving and identify areas of weakness.

Evidence-Based Improvements
An Evidence Menu that provides evidence-based approaches to improve FLN. This is a good starting point to learn more about the body of research around FLN and identify the most impactful and relevant interventions to address the FLN barriers in your context.
Building Capacity
The Capacity Builder, which allows you to assess your capacity to effectively implement a selected FLN intervention or approach as well as access recommendations with associated resources to strengthen the capacity to deliver on FLN goals. We are now accepting a limited number of countries to take part in the Capacity Builder.
